Problem Statement
Users are struggling to manage their reoccurring subscription.
Unsub's subscription tracking product is limited to desktop users, resulting in a missed opportunity to tap into the large mobile audience.
Business Goals
Solution
An app designed to help users cancel and manage their reoccurring subscriptions.
Unsub is a mobile app that helps users manage their subscriptions by sending notifications of upcoming charges and enabling them to cancel unwanted subscriptions within the app. This allows users to avoid unnecessary expenses and maintain better financial management.
Create an app that supports these functions:
1. Allows current web users to see all of my subscriptions in one place so that they can get a comprehensive view of their spending on subscriptions.
2. Allow users to unsubscribe from a subscription so that they can reduce needless spending.
Streamline Subscription Management
Cancel with Ease: UnSub's "Cancel it for me" feature makes unsubscribing hassle-free.
Personalized Spending Analysis
Real-Time Insights: UnSub merges subscription management and spending analysis for effective financial monitoring.

Secondary Research
Consumers often struggle with subscription-based models as auto-payments enable service providers to benefit from their lack of awareness, leading to multiple subscriptions and unexpected financial burdens.
According to C+R Research, almost one-third (30%) of the people underestimated how much they spend on subscriptions by $100 to $199.
According to Statista, for just media and entertainment offerings, the average number of paid subscriptions per consumer was 12 in 2020. Millennials had the most subscriptions: 17.
According to C+R Research, almost one-third (30%) of the people underestimated how much they spend on subscriptions by $100 to $199.
User Interviews
40% of users have faced a financial strain due to the cumulative cost of multiple subscription-based services.
Have you ever forgotten to cancel a subscription before the free trial ended?
Have you ever been surprised by the total amount you spend on subscription services each month?
Do you regularly review your subscription expenses to ensure they align with your needs and budget?
Persona
Based on user interviews and extensive secondary research, I created comprehensive a persona to delve into users' needs, goals, experiences, and behaviors, thereby gaining valuable insights.
Study Industry Leaders
With the personas guiding the app development, I conducted research on existing solutions in the market to assist users facing subscription management challenges. I focused on studying industry leaders who have effectively tackled this problem space. By analyzing their approaches, I sought valuable insights into addressing similar challenges and aligning with users' financial goals.

User Flow
After analyzing existing market solutions and how they have managed to lay out their user flows, I proceeded to map out user flows for Unsub. Unsub’s user flow is designed to provide users with a seamless and intuitive experience in managing their subscriptions.
Sketches
Key features had been identified and ideated after identifying user challenges, and sketching helped to quickly shape the product concept.

Wireframe
I transformed the wireframes for the app into a mid-fidelity design, elevating the visual representation. Throughout the design process, my objective was to create a highly navigable and user-friendly app interface.
Design
Usability Testing
Upon completing the mid-fidelity design of the Unsub App, I ran a guerrilla usability test to understand how users would interact with this particular design approach.
Usability Testing
After completing the storyboard section, I've put my expertise into practice, creating a sleek and modern user interface that offers a seamless experience. PostUp enables users to locate suitable places with ease, share updates, and organize their contacts and conversations.

Day 4 - Prototype
Usability Testing
The purpose of this usability test is to evaluate the effectiveness and usability of the PostUp app. PostUp is an app designed to help remote workers find great public places to work. The app is intended to provide users with an easy-to-use interface that allows them to search for and locate quiet workspaces, take phone calls, and have quick meetings with clients.
Participants:
The usability test was conducted with 5 participants, most of whom are remote workers. The participants varied in age, gender, and experience level with mobile apps.
Tasks:
All participants were given the following tasks and here are their results.
Task: Navigating to find workspace
Day 5
Tasks: filter search results
Tasks: Access workspace information (wifi/bathroom code)
Reflection
Overall, the PostUp app performed well in the usability test. Participants found the app to be easy to use and navigate, and they were able to complete tasks with minimal difficulty. However, some improvements could be made to improve the app's overall usability, such as increasing font size and simplifying filter options.
A valuable lesson learned as a UI/UX designer for the PostUp app is the importance of conducting user research and testing throughout the design process. User research and testing provide valuable insights into user behavior and can reveal areas of improvement that can enhance the user experience. In this project, the usability test revealed that some users found certain features difficult to locate and that font size could be increased to improve readability. Continuous user research and testing can help ensure the app meets the needs of its target audience, resulting in a more effective, user-friendly app.
